Sour Cream Coffee Cake
I made this wonderful coffee cake this morning for breakfast. It was a HUGE hit! I found the recipe on Gimme Some Oven only change I did was add more than half of the topping to the middle.
Sour Cream Coffee Cake
Ingredients:
Cake Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) container of sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Topping Ingredients:
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)(I used pecans)
Method:
In a mixer, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs to the mixture, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the sour cream and vanilla. Mix until combined.
Then pour half of the batter into a greased 9″x13″ baking pan, and sprinkle with half of the topping. Add the remainder of the batter on top, and sprinkle with the remaining topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.
Also Gimme Some Oven gave a helpful tip that "The batter will be pretty sticky, so I recommend adding your second layer in small spoonfuls all over the pan (rather than just adding the remaining batter in one big blob). This may make it easier to spread out over the cinnamon-sugar layer."

Freebie from P&G
This freebie I signed up for a few weeks ago. To be honest I am not sure if it came from the swiffer facebook page or from P&G site. Either way I am happy to have it. I love swiffer products and my little girls love to dust the house due to them thinking the swiffer is more of a toy. I don't mind one less chore for me to do.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!
these men who mean so much to us,
who are greatly responsible
for who we are and who we are becoming.
Bless them for having the courage
to do what’s necessary to keep us out of trouble,
for making us do the right thing,
for helping us build our character,
even when it makes us angry;
and bless them for pushing us to do our best,
even when they just want to love us.
Bless our fathers for being our protectors,
for leading us through stormy times to safety,
for making us believe that everything will be all right
and for making it so.
Bless our fathers for quietly making a living
to provide for those they love most,
for giving us food, clothing, shelter
and other necessary and not so necessary material things,
for unselfishly investing time and money in us
that they could have spent on themselves.
Bless our fathers, Lord,
for saving some energy for fun,
for leading us on adventures
to explore the outer reaches of ourselves,
for making us laugh,
for being our playmates and our friends.
Bless them for being our secure foundation, our rock,
for holding on tight to us...until it’s time to let us go.
Lord, bless these men we look up to,
our role models, our heroes,
our fathers.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Father's day flowers
Michael's parents sent some flowers for father's day. It's called King of the Grill. I tried to get photos from all sides. Some of the blue flowers grew upside down and those died rather quickly so I went ahead and took them out.

I have here recently got this book on my kindle to read to my girls. I have 2 girls that are having a birthday very soon. So the excitement the little girl in this story is great. It's a countdown book to her birthday and in her mind she will have a huge birthday party. This book is a keeper for my little girls.
I Love you this much |
I also got the on my kindle. This story is about how much a mother bear loves her baby bear and how she shows hopes and prays that the baby bear knows that God is watching over him and loving him. A very sweet book.

Day 30: Three wishes/ goals for your family
I have been thinking a lot about this post. For me there are several different things I want for the family. I have came up with the following as the highest ones that I think are the most important out of everything the family dreams about.
1. To have a closer relationship with the Lord.
2. To keep making education a high priority for my girls, they need to know the harder they work at school the farther they will go in life.
3. To keep the family strong. We have been going through a lot lately and I know we will come out of it all as a stronger family.
This is the last post for the 30 day family challenge. I hope whoever has been following along everyday that you have had fun learning about our family. I have enjoyed doing this 30 day challenge along with my friend Jackie over at The Beach Family Blog.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies W/ Cinnamon chips
If you want to see this image larger just click on the image and it will open to be bigger. |
I found this recipe on I Heart Nap Time. I did not put any raisins in these cookies due to some family members not liking raisins so I made Oatmeal cookies with Cinnamon chips. These cookies are thick and chewy. For me I am a lover of cookies that are chrispy on the edge and chewy in the center, these cookies remind me of the thick chewy breakfast cookies that are out there. These cookies are good but I had very high hopes of it bursting with flavor. you can tell there is cinnamon chips in the cookies but only when you get a bite with the cinnamon chips in it. If you don't get a bite with the cinnamon chips in it then it feels like you are eatting baked oatmeal. So needless to say that I have a mixed review about these cookies. They are good but could use more flavor. With how expensive the cinnamon chips are (for a bag that is 1 2/3 C of chips cost almost $4) you will REALLY have to be craving these cookies. Sorry for the mixed review but I do try to be very honest and let my readers know what I think.

Day 27: Favorite birthday party
We often have Anika's and Caeley's birthday party together since they are very close together. When Caeley was turning 3 and Anika was turning 2 we threw a Mickey mouse party for them. There is more photos then what I am posting but then it would be a photo overload.
